The Projector: Skip This Weekend Edition UPDATE

Monday UPDATE: Pretty much nailed it. Not that it was entirely difficult this weekend with the wasteland of new offerings. Bond is back at the top and Gerard Butler bombed, but come Friday it's all about The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Mass sellouts are a certitude. Review coming Wednesday.

  1. Skyfall $11M
  2. Rise of the Guardians $10.5M
  3. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 $9.2M
  4. Lincoln $9.1M
  5. Life of Pi $8.3M
  6. Playing for Keeps $6M

After a week in LA, taking in screenings of films that will have a seismic impact on the box office: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and Zero Dark Thirty, it makes you appreciate how horrid this weekend is at the multiplex. When Gerard Butler is your headline act in a film that's currently garnering a 0% from my fellow colleagues on Rotten Tomatoes, uh-oh. As it is, let's just make this simple and think positive thoughts about next weekend when Peter Jackson's visual spectacle drops. It's one heck of a mind-scrambler.
  1. Skyfall $11M
  2. Lincoln $10.5M
  3. Rise of the Guardians $10M
  4. Life of Pi $8.5M
  5. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 $8M
  6. Playing for Keeps $7M
