The Projector: Flatline Edition

Monday UPDATE: As predicted, it was a mega-cruddy weekend for Hollywood as no film topped the $10M mark for the first time since the second term of the second Bush administration - the worst cumulative take at the box office in over ten years. The Words flamed out - second straight less-than-stellar outing for golden boy Bradley Cooper following Hit & Run. This coming weekend will provide a market correction as Disney rakes easy cash with the re-release of Finding Nemo in 3D.

  1. The Possession $9.5M
  2. Lawless $6M
  3. The Words $5M
  4. The Expendables 2 $4.7
  5. The Bourne Legacy $4M

We've arrived at the weakest weekend of 2012 at the multiplex; one "major" new release and a bunch of leftovers a pack of starving raccoons wouldn't touch. With that in mind, here are my generous estimates:

  1. The Possession $8M
  2. The Words $7.75M
  3. Lawless $5.5M
  4. The Expendables 2 $4.5
  5. The Bourne Legacy $3.25M
