The Weekend Projector: Evil Queen Edition

Evil has never looked more glam than it does in 'Snow White and the Huntsman'. I mean seriously, Charlize Theron? Is there a man on the planet who could resist her seductive charms? Well apparently there's one: Chris Hemsworth. Yeah right, not even Thor could tackle that task.

  1. Snow White and the Huntsman ($40M) - Clearly the more anticipated big screen rendition of Snow White ('Mirror, Mirror' anyone?), the combo of the white hot Hemsworth, the never smiling Kristen Stewart and the aforementioned beauty Ms. Theron should equate to a tidy take. It possesses the edginess factor which brings out the core moviegoing audience, the under 25 set.
  2. Men in Black 3 ($25M) - As predicted here one week ago, the interest in seeing Agents J & K reunite was not quite as strong as Sony was planning on. Should fall completely off the grid by next weekend.
  3. The Avengers ($20M) - Will take down 'The Dark Knight' on the all-time domestic list Friday - over $533M now banked.
  4. Battleship ($5M) - Although it's not getting slammed as soundly by the media, the board game-turned-bomb joins 'John Carter' as one of the biggest box office losers ever. Universal expected to take a $150M hit as Taylor Kitsch's career will forever carry a dubious asterisk.
Also: Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom expands after one of the largest per-screen averages ever - $130K per. In the running for the most undeservedly-lauded film ever - here's my C review.
